Q:Why does ORS have to run without firewall ? 

A: By default, all the ORS provided by Rapid.Space can be managed and configured through Rapid.Space panel, which we also called Rapid.Space SlapOS Master. This is a public platform that runs on IPv6 network over Ipv4 networks, setup by Rapid.Space in the world-wide range, to ensure resilience and connectivity from management point of view:

  • Wherever the client is, they can always connect to the Rapid.Space panel to configure their ORS
  • Wherever Rapid.Space team is, we can always assist client to provide support on their ORS through the panel.

This cost-efficient solution allows Rapid.Space to provide ORS plug-and-play all-in-one private 5G at very competitive price, and it it proved to be effective with most of Rapid.Space's clients. 

However, we understand that it is critical to have a closed internet or a firewall for certain clients that has high security regulations, so we also propose two alternative solutions for these kind of customized requests： 

* Solution 1/ Setup client's own local SlapOS master platform. 

Rapid.Space team can offer customized services to client to build its own independent infrastructure for the vRAN management, resilient edge or cloud platform.

* Solution 2/ On-site service provided by Rapid.Space team. 

Rapid.Space team offers on-site support to client from initial deployment to configuration, etc. Clients will bear the cost of the relocation, as well as the on-site service fee.

According to our experiences, we strongly suggest client to use non-firewall internet for demo, experiment or pilot project of ORS deployment, which can maximum the result of the PoC with low expenses. 

Once the PoC of ORS deployment is justified, and a firewall or closed internet environment is obligated for the client, Rapid.Space can suggest customize services accordingly. 

Please note that if client purchases a ORS SDK version (with root access), it is also possible to configure the ORS without using Rapid.Space panel.
