This tutorial shows how to install PD10ANS SBC (Single Board Computer) on ORS.

Prepare PC and its accessories

Prepare a Mitac PC board and its accessories :
1. Aluminium Heatsink Sole v2
2. Heatsink spring screw (4* Screws + 4* Springs)
3. M.2 to FFC adapter (left)
4. PC power cable with JST and PTSM connector
5. FFC cable

Assemble PC

1. Before starting other steps, please note down the PC serial number on the QR code sticker for future reference.
2. Install M.2 key E FFC adapter to the Key E slot on PC with a screw.
3. Apply thermal paste on the CPU shield.
4. Plug the PC power cable (white connector).
5. Connect FFC cable (contact pin facing down) to adaptor board.

Install heatsink

1. Attach the heatsink to the PC, by taking the position of the CPU and the two screw holes at the corner for reference.
2. Screw the four heatsink spring screws, make sure that these 4 screws are push to the end.

Apply thermal sheet on the heatsink

1. Before applying the thermal sheet to the heatsink bottom,  cut the thermal sheet to the shape of the heatsink.
2. Remove the  thicker plastic film(no text) and stick the thermal sheet on the surface of heatsink. Remove the plastic film(with text). Squeeze out air bubbles between sheet and heatsink.

Install PC to aluminium cover

1. Place the assembled PC on the aluminium cover, take the two screw holes matching the two screw holes on the heatsink for position reference.
2. Fix the PC with 4 pieces of M3 *25mm screw.

Install RAM and SSD

1. Stick the BIOS button battery to the cover.
2. Install RAM and SSD(after flashed).

PD10ANS requires:

  • RAM: SODIMM, DDR5, 8GB-16GB
  • SSD: M 2280, PCI, 128GB-256GB

Connect the PC to the SDR board

1. Mount the PoE Ethernet cable(Black, flat) between SDR board and the RJ45 mount on the enclosure.
2. Connect RJ45 Ethernet cable between the PC and the SDr board. Following the instruction in picture.
3. Plug PC power connector and the FFC cable to SDR board.
4. Plug LED connector to SDR board.

Close the ORS Enclosure

Do not close the ORS before taking down note of the SDR Main Board serial number and the computer serial number, and before taking a picture of the open ORS

  1. Before closing the ORS, you can blow some compressed air on the PCB to make sure there are no metal dust on it.
  2. Fold the FFC cable as the picture shows. Arrange the cables in the enclosure before put on the cover.
  3. Try to close the enclosure lightly, if you feel there is too much resistant try to rearrange the cables. The gray RJ45 cable can be tricky to put in the right place. Closing it shouldn't require too much pressure else something might break.
  4. Close the enclosure with screws.
